Information on Beacon and Members of Beacon’s Staff
Beacon is short for "Beacon Principal Herald" – one of the Greater Officers of the Kingdom of Meridies. According to Kingdom Law, Beacon is responsible "for the conduct of the College of Heralds, the Masters/Mistresses of the List, and for all the Heralds and Pursuivants" of Meridies. Beacon has a number of deputies to help with this and below this big table are Beacon’s expectations for staff members.

Beacon’s Expectations of Staff Members
Adapted from Mistress Amicia Readyman, September 2007
- Be active within the kingdom. To me this means trying to attend at least an average of one event per month other
than August and December. That is just 10 events a year. I think it would be hard to function as a kingdom-level
officer and be less active than that.
- Report quarterly to Beacon on the activity of the office and goals both short-range and long-range.
- Be a paid member of the SCA. This is required.
- Be a member of the Beacon Staff list (on Yahoo Groups) since Beacon uses it to communicate with the entire staff at once.
